This past November, Toyota debuted their all-new 2015 TRD Pro Series Tundra at the 47th SCORE Baja 1000 race, starting in Ensenada and ending in La Paz, Mexico – it’s 1,200-miles of desert runs and grueling obstacles along the way. Coached by Ivan “Ironman” Stewart himself, a TRD team, made up of Ted Moncure, Andrew Bell, Jamie Bestwick, Michael Sweers and Ryan Millen, took a near-stock truck (it’s been outfitted with only a few TRD goods, Eibach springs made for TRD, oh and some safety equipment in the form of a custom roll-cage – yep, near-stock!) and entered it in the Full Size Stock class, one of four total in that category and a total of 228 race entries. After putting the truck through the ringer, team TRD finished first with a handful of scrapes and bruises but it’s a great testament to show how it could perform with competent OEM components. After the win, the team filled the gas up and drove back to the starting line, where it was then put on display at Toyota’s headquarters in Torrance, California. Talk about a solid effort!
