Ryan Gustin Dominates Tucson for Richest Super Late Model Victory Tucson, Arizona (January 19th, 2014) 23-year-old, Ryan Gustin from Marshalltown, Iowa put an exclamation point on the showing for Eibach customers at the 2nd Annual Winter Extreme at Tucson International Raceway, when he raced to the biggest Super Late Model triumph of his young career on Sunday during the finale for the miniseries. With 52 entries in the pit area Gustin blazed to fast-time honors in his group to earn the pole position for his heat race. He claimed a convincing win in his heat race to lock into the redraw for the feature, where he was the lucky recipient of the pole position. As the green flag waved for the finale Ryan bolted to the lead. He maintained a dominant lead throughout the 50 lapper, and the only scare for the talented pilot came in the late laps of the race, when he briefly tangled with a lapped car. Gustin recovered from the contact to complete his flag-to-flag, $10,000 triumph, which came over many of the nation’s top drivers in his #19 Gressel Racing/Rocket entry.
Whitwell Scores Historic Win at Tucson Tucson, AZ (January 11th, 2014) Tucson’s R.C. Whitwell opened the action in the 2nd Annual Winter Extreme at Tucson International Raceway (Tucson, AZ) on Saturday evening with a bang by powering his #5 Manka Motorsports/Eibach Springs/Rocket Super Late Model to his first career victory in the annual January slugfest. The program, which was sanctioned by the National Dirt Racing League (NDRL), drew a field of 59 entries to the 3/8 mile oval. He started the event by winning his heat race from the fifth starting spot to earn a spot in the redraw for the feature. The redraw presented Whitwell with the pole starting spot for the 30 lap finale, and as the race went green he snagged the lead from fellow front row starter, Chase Junghans. R.C. went on to drive away from the field to score the convincing flag-to-flag victory. With the impressive $3,000 win he also became the first driver from the state of Arizona to ever conquer the national competitors in the miniseries.
Billy Moyer Jr. Bags $5k Payday at Tucson Tucson, AZ (January 12th, 2014) There were no new car jitters for Billy Moyer Jr. as in just his second outing in his new #21jr Moyer Xtreme by Longhorn Super Late Model he parked his entry in victory lane during the second round of the 2nd Annual Winter Extreme at Tucson International Raceway. Fifty-four Super Late Models entered the National Dirt Racing League (NDRL) sanctioned event, and Billy started his night by out-dueling his dad to win his heat race, which sent him to the redraw for the feature. In the redraw Moyer Jr. was the recipient of the pole starting spot for the 40 lap, $5,000-to-win feature. He was joined on the front row by Terry Phillips, and as the race went green Billy snagged the lead with Phillips in tow. He held the top spot until lap 4, when Phillips shot by for the lead exiting turn 2. With Billy in close pursuit Phillips held the lead until lap 11, when he slowed with issues which allowed Moyer Jr. to inherit the lead. Once out front again the Batesville, Arkansas native went on to lead the remainder of the event to score the victory, which marked the second of his career in the miniseries.
Billy Moyer Races to First Win of 2014 with Tucson Triumph Tucson, AZ (January 15th, 2014) In only his third event of 2014, Billy Moyer from Batesville, Arkansas drove his new Moyer Xtreme by Longhorn machine into victory lane on Wednesday night at the Tucson International Raceway (Tucson, Arizona) during the 2nd Annual Winter Extreme. The Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer laid down the fastest lap in his group during National Dirt Racing League (NDRL) time trials and later scored the win in his heat race. After drawing the outside of the front row for the start of the 30-lap A-Main, Billy grabbed the early race lead and held off all challenges to earn the $3,000 payday. With the win “Mr. Smooth” picked up his twelfth career Arizona January triumph, which makes him the all-time winningest driver in the history of the series.

Mike Stearns Conquers Tucson Open Wheel Modified Action Tucson, Arizona (January 15th, 2014) 2013 Wissota Open Wheel Modified National Champion, Mike Stearns from Hecla, South Dakota raced to his first career, open competition win on Wednesday in the Championship Dirt Motorsports sanctioned portion of the 2nd Annual Winter Extreme at Tucson International Raceway. Stearns, who is no stranger to victory lane in the spec engine ranks, was entering only his third open engine, competition event. Despite limited experience in the more powerful engine ranks Stearns looked like a pro and motored away from the field of talented competitors to claim the popular win.
Jacob Gallardo Opens Inaugural Battle at the Border with a Win El Paso, Texas (January 24th, 2014) - Las Cruces, New Mexico racer, Jacob Gallardo, opened the inaugural Battle at the Border at El Paso Speedway Park with a dominant triumph on Friday night in his #J17 LG2 Chassis. Jacob started third on the grid for the 20 lap feature, but wasted little time racing to the lead. Once out front he motored away from the field to score the win by a straightaway over his nearest competitor.
Rodney Sanders Nabs First Win of 2014 in Tucson Finale Tucson, Arizona (January 19th, 2014) - Rodney Sanders, who was the 2013 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS Champion), battled incredibly bad luck for the first five events of the 2nd Annual Winter Extreme at Tucson International Raceway before parking his #20 Swan Energy/Eibach Springs/MB Customs Open Wheel Modified in victory lane in the finale on Sunday evening. With 35 entries on hand Sanders started his night by racing to a dominant win in his heat race to lock into the pole position for the feature. As the race went green Sanders snagged the lead and despite a late-race challenge from Cody Skitland, he went on to lead every lap to register his first win of the 2014 season!
Rodney Sanders Does Texas Two Step to Second Victory of 2014 El Paso, Texas (January 25th, 2014) - A night after feeling like he gave one away, when he was unable to capitalize on a front row starting spot in the feature, Rodney Sanders returned to true form on Saturday night by utilizing Eibach products to propel him into victory lane in the Championship Dirt Motorsports Open Wheel Modified division at El Paso Speedway Park (El Paso, Texas). The second round of the inaugural Battle at the Border drew a field of 18 entries, and Rodney started his night by charging from the sixth starting spot to claim his heat race win, which locked him into the pole position for the 20 lap feature. As the main event went green Sanders grabbed the lead and despite several challenges from fellow Eibach customers, Fito Gallardo and Jacob Gallardo, he would lead every lap to register the $1,000 win.
Jacob Gallardo Goes Two-For-Three in El Paso Modified Action El Paso, Texas (January 26th, 2014) - Jacob Gallardo increased his 2014 win tally to two on Sunday evening by racing to his second triumph in three events during the inaugural Battle at the Border at El Paso Speedway Park. Gallardo started on the second row of the Championship Dirt Motorsports Open Wheel Modified feature, and quickly worked his way into the second spot as he set his sights on the leader Rodney Sanders. On lap 11 Jacob pounced on Sanders as he drove past the leader for the top spot. In a repeat performance of Friday night’s main event Gallardo drove away from the field over the final nine laps of the finale to score yet another dominating victory in his #J17 LG2/Eibach Motorsports entry.
